The person behind Clearspace Counselling

A little bit about my journey

Thank you for taking the time to learn a little more about me.

My journey into counselling began through my own life-changing experience of therapy. Like many people, I have faced times in my life when things haven't felt straightforward. Experiencing what it meant to have someone genuinely listen, without judgement or expectation, showed me just how valuable that space can be.

It helped me recognise the importance of feeling understood, having the opportunity to make sense of our experiences and being able to explore things at our own pace. That experience played a significant part in my decision to become a counsellor.

While my own experiences have influenced the person I am and my path into becoming a counsellor, they don't define the work I do. Instead, they have deepened my empathy and reinforced my belief that everyone deserves to feel heard, valued and accepted.

Today, I feel privileged to work alongside people as they navigate their own experiences, whether that means making sense of difficult emotions, understanding long-standing patterns or finding a different way forward.

My Counselling Approach

Choosing a counsellor is a deeply personal decision. You might be feeling nervous about reaching out, unsure what to expect or wondering whether counselling is right for you. I understand that taking this first step isn't always easy.

My approach is integrative and trauma-informed, which means I recognise that there is no single way to understand or work through our experiences. I prioritise creating a safe, compassionate and collaborative space where you can remain in control of your therapeutic journey. I take time to understand you as an individual, considering not only what you're experiencing now, but also the experiences that may have shaped how you feel and relate to the world.

I believe the therapeutic relationship is central to this process. I won't tell you how to feel or what decisions to make. Instead, I'll work alongside you with curiosity, respect, openness and compassion, helping you explore things at a pace that feels right for you.

Sometimes that might mean making sense of something that has happened, at other times it might involve recognising patterns, questioning beliefs you've carried for years or beginning to understand what you need from yourself and others.

My aim is to offer a space where you can be honest about what's happening, feel able to explore difficult things and develop a deeper understanding of yourself.

And because life isn't all doom and gloom, there should be room for the lighter moments too. A little laughter, the occasional smile and perhaps even a few lightbulb moments along the way. After all, we're making space for all of life, not just the difficult bits. Counselling can hold all of it.

Compassion and empathy sit at the heart of my practice- a space where you are met with warmth, not judgement

A Commitment to Safe, Ethical Practice

Feeling safe, respected and understood is fundamental to the counselling relationship. I take my responsibility as a counsellor seriously, providing a professional and confidential space where your wellbeing remains at the centre of our work.

As an integrative counsellor, I draw on a range of therapeutic approaches, adapting our work to suit your individual needs and experiences. I am a registered member of the BACP and work in accordance with the Ethical Framework provided.

My experience includes supporting people affected by trauma, including survivors of sexual abuse, as well as people navigating a wide range of emotional and psychological difficulties. This experience has deepened my understanding of how experiences can shape the way we see ourselves, relate to others and navigate life. I believe that being a successful counsellor means consistent engagement in further development, it's not training that has a specific end, there is always more to learn. I'm committed to ongoing learning, training, supervision and reflection, continually developing my knowledge and understanding so that the support I offer remains thoughtful, informed and responsive to the people I work with.

My Qualifications include:

  • First-Class BA (Hons) in Counselling and the Psychotherapeutic Relationship — University of Warwick

  • NCFE Level 3 Certificate in Counselling Skills

  • NCFE Level 2 Certificate in Counselling Skills

  • OCN Level 3 Working with Survivors of Sexual Abuse

  • Level 2 Safeguarding Adults and Children

I am committed to continuing my professional development to ensure my practice remains ethical, informed and responsive to the people I work with.

Outside of Counselling

When I'm not in the counselling room, you'll usually find me with a good coffee in hand, out walking with my dog, Sully, or curled up at home watching some Netflix. I value time with family and friends and appreciate the simple moments that help me slow down, reconnect and recharge.

I also enjoy getting together with the people I love, whether that's sharing a meal, celebrating life's milestones or simply having a good catch-up. I believe these moments of connection remind us of the importance of relationships, balance and making space for ourselves.

Choosing a counsellor is a personal decision, and it's important that you find someone who feels like the right fit for you. If you feel my approach resonates with you, I'd be happy to answer any questions and discuss how we might work together.
